James Hinchcliffe Becomes A Mayoral Free Agent At The End Of '13

Hinchtown, Ontario, Canada: Hinchtown Mayor James Hinchcliffe finds himself in a peculiar situation for 2014. His contract as Mayor of Hinchtown is up at the end of the 2013 season, and he's weighing his options. Does he stay and try to get re-elected or does he move on to another town. "When I was a councilman at Newman-Haaston, it was me trying to get my foot in the door. Then things fell into place and I was able to become the mayor here. I like it here, these are good people. But, like anything else, its always good to keep my options open"

One of the town's on Hinchcliffe's short list, is the Indianapolis suburb of Ganassiville. Ganassiville has won the Indianapolis 500 Towns of Greatness Award 4 times since 1992. An award that Hinchtown has tried to win three times. "To win the 500 award would be the highlight of any Mayors career. It doesn't matter how many other awards are bestowed upon your town like, Volunteer Town of the year or Top Western Town. There's only one 500 Award, and to get your face on there with all those other legendary Mayors would be the peak of my career." The 500 Award is awarded to the best town in the world. With participating countries such as Brazil, United Kingdom, Canada, USA and France. 500 towns are selected then through a month long process in May they are narrowed down to 33. From there 33 towns compete in a 3 hour voting process, that is very fast paced. In the end only one town is left holding the Better Homes & Gardens Trophy.

Since becoming the Mayor, Hinchcliffe has won 3 awards for his services as Mayor. He's finished in the Top 10 for others, but it's the outside the Top 10's that bother Hinchcliffe the most. "In some of those, we thought we had everything setup perfectly, but as the award audits went on we saw things that weren't working, and put us behind. I'm not making excuses for our town, I'm proud of all the people here. They've worked tireless hours to put the best town out there day in and day out. I'm excited to finish out the rest of this year with them and see where it goes." The other option for Hinchcliffe at the end of the year is to, hang up the political suit at the end of the year, and put on a Race Car drivers firesuit. "Truly that's been a dream of mine, watching Greg Moore and Paul Tracy growing up, just fueled that passion. Plus, GoDaddy.com has helped out our community for the past two years with various projects. Maybe, we can do something there, wouldn't be cool to see me the mayor of Hinchtown in a commercial with Danica Patrick!"

If the past is any indicator, where ever or whatever Hinchcliffe decides, he will be a winner, right from the start.
